Plastic resin cost increases across industries

All of the major five volume resins have seen an increase in cost again recently, partly due to typical environmental and economic factors, and of course partly due to changes effected by COVID-19. Reasons for the volatility of resins include weather-related issues causing prebuying, labour shortages due to the pandemic, and resin plant outages.

This trend has been evident since mid 2020 and is expected to continue (but hopefully stabilize) into mid 2021. This price increase is affecting the prices of plastic tanks, fittings and accessories, plastic molded goods such as dock floats, and more.
